What is this laser thing anyway?
For those of you who have never heard about laser tag, I’ll explain it quickly. Laser tag is a game played with guns which fire infrared beams. Therefore each player must wear infrared sensitive targets (i.e. vest, headbands). Games are hosted indoors or outdoors. There are many types of matches, for instance team or solo deathmatch, capture the flag, base defense and more. Compared to paintball, laser tag is painless.
You can gather your friends (about 10-20 people) and make a reservation to have a whole arena just for yourselves. You can also go solo and join a random group of players.
How to prepare for laser game
First of all, wear comfortable clothes and take a spare t-shirt to change after playing. Drink lots of water because you’ll run, sweat and have fun. Remember to stay hydrated! In case you forget to bring your own drink, there are snack bars or vending machines in most laser tag places. Once you arrive in the arena of your choice, the staff will teach you how to use the equipment.

Trends related to the ecological lifestyle came to the Oder. Because of that DIY workshops in Wroclaw are gaining more and more popularity. Many people learn to do different things themselves from scratch instead of buying ready products. Therefore recycling of old items and materials, the selection of natural resources and control over the production process is often an alternative to shopping in large retail chains. If you want to learn it, the workshops will come with help to do it yourself. Under the supervision of trainers you will develop your creativity and create unique items. And finally, the environment will only benefit.

Are you not satisfied with the offer of natural cosmetics in stores? Learn how to do a cream with selected organic ingredients. Moreover, create a product that really adapts to your skin needs. During workshops with natural cosmetics you will do body lotion with avocado oil or lip balm without the addition of paraffin and mineral oils. The classes are carried out in the store “Ładnie Pachnie” in cooperation with an online store with cosmetics raw materials “Zrób sobie krem”.
Are you a gingerbread gourmet? Seems like you can learn about the traditional recipes of baked goods. Workshops organized by a small manufacture of “Piernikarnia Wrocławska” are certainly a good idea. Due to the good quality ingredients like Polish honey, real butter, country flour and aromatic cooking spices the pastries will melt in your mouth. The whole family can participate in the workshop, and children will definitely have fun by cutting gingerbread hearts.
Clothing stores mostly offer clothes made with synthetic fabrics. Furthermore, new collections appear every few weeks. In contrast to the offer of shopping centers, supporters of an ecological lifestyle try to tailor old clothes. Buying fewer good quality items made of natural fabrics is also more and more evident. In this case, tailoring workshops are another noteworthy suggestion. At the tailoring workshop at the Szyciokawiarnia in Wroclaw you can sew a pencil skirt or a shopper bag according to your own design. In addition, in the Szyciokawiarnia you can also spend time not only at the workshops, but whenever you want- with delicious coffee, homemade cake and sewing machine, in the company of other tailoring enthusiasts.
During craft workshops, you will wake up the artist’s soul and create unique home decorations. The Jak Malowana Foundation as part of the course at the Wolna Pracownia offers a wide range of DIY workshops. As a result, anyone interested learn how to make ceramic fridge magnets, wooden caskets decorated with decoupage technique or paint Japanese patterns on fabric. Beside that, you can bring your own products home or give them to your family or friends.
Trend Be Eco and do-it-yourself is more and more popular in Wroclaw. The range of workshops on various topics is constantly enriching and, in fact, everyone can find something for themselves. Next time, when you are looking for an interesting idea for spending free time, try to participate in DIY workshops – you can be surprised how much is possible thanks to your passion and your own work!

So what to do if You are in the capital of Lower Silesia, and want to spend some time with dice, cards, and meepels? Here is a quick guide to most of the options open for people who want to play some games. Be that individually in the city, at home, or at various board game in Wroclaw meetings.
There are several options for people that want to spend their time with a board on their table, ranging from pubs and organized meetings to board game rentals if You prefer to play games in home. Note that currently many pubs in the city have a copy of Monopoly, or Scrabble. But if You, dear reader, are interested in some more complicated games I will try to give You some options on where and when to go.
HEX Board Game Café – Dubuois 33/35b
And we are starting with a pub that is focused on board games. Hex is located in a back alley, and can be a little hard to find for the first time, but it is worth the search. When You enter Your eyes are greeted with a fair amount of tables. When You make your way to the bar area You will see several shelves filled with board games.
The choice is huge, so if You don’t have Your collection with You is the ideal place to go. Drinks wise You can have Your warm drinks like coffee and tea, colder beverages like water, juice, lemonade or coke are also available. As for something with alcohol there is a good choice of craft beers in addition to normal beer and drinks. As far as snacks go You can count on peanuts, toasts, or hot dogs to name just a few. Although You can find a table walking in from the street I highly recommend reserving one, as this is a very popular place, and there are many special events organized by the owners. Also don’t forget some sort of ID because it could be needed to borrow a game at the bar.

Cybermachina – Szczytnicka 52

On Tuesdays there is a big board gaming event “Planszowe Koloseum w Cybermachinie”, where people meet to play board games in Wroclaw. The meeting is open to all, and is free of charge. You can bring Your own game, or just show up, and pick something to play from. This is a great time if You are looking for other gamers to play with. The event starts every Tuesday at around 18 o clock. As beverages go there is a good choice of beer, coffee, tea, water, coke, juices, and a whole plethora of thematically named drinks both with alcohol and without it. As with Hex, You can find a table walking in from the street but I recommend reserving one just to make sure.

If you’re a fan of plants I invite you for non-obvious trip.
There is nothing more inseparable from humanity than nature. Nowadays, plants are becoming a very strong trend in fashion and indoor design; but today I want to pull you out of couch and make you go outside. I’d like to show you some places in Wroclav, where you can admire different kinds of plants.
First point on our tour map is Botanical Garden with Green House inside. The object is open between 2nd of April and 12th of November. During a few months, we can observe plants and flowers daily. And a ticket for student cost 10 PLN. Garden is located near well-known, historical Ostrów Tumski.
In Wroclav’s Garden you can admire cacti and other succulents in a historic Cactus House, as well as in two greenhouses where succulents of Africa and of Mexico are presented. Under the greenhouse’s roofs there is an impressive collection of exotic plants originating from warmer climatic zones. This is the best place to make “tropical” photos and breathe fresh air in the middle of the city.
Leaving the Garden, we go to the newly opened place on the map of Wroclav. rośliny. is a modern and minimalistic store. Here, the plants are in the spotlight. We can gain knowledge of how to take care about different types of plants and buy a beautiful seedling, too. I also recomand you to find them on Instagram. They’re amazing. rośliny.
Next place we’re going to visit is a beautiful mural, located near Galeria Dominikańska. It has been painted on one of Wierzbowa Street’s walls, surrounded by modern office buildings. Read more about murals.
Maze at Brochów The last stop on the track is the Labyrinth at Wroclaw Brochów. The labyrinth that you will find in the park, today is a hornbeam labyrinth designed in the 1990s as part of a revitalization project. A walk through the maze is a game; it might give you some adrenalin. Having a long walk in the tunnel, after another turn you may come across a wall and have to turn back.
I hope you will enjoy my tips for spending your “green” day in Wroclaw!
If you stay in Wroclaw for more than few days, you have to see Slodowa Island.
It is located in the center of Wroclaw. Slodowa Island is not associated with any major historical event. From the fifteenth century there were malt houses (“malt” in polish means “słód” – this is why this island is called, obviously, “Malt Island”), but now there are not even their remains. You can ask: So why should I go there?
The answer is: Slodowa Island is a cult meeting place (mainly for students) in Wroclaw.
From October to mid-March the island is calm and is mainly used for walking, running or cycling – if you don’t believe me, there are some pictures :).
However, since March it is full of young people laughing, playing the guitar, singing and playing games. Every year, March 21 (first day of spring, but also: truant day), young people gather on Slodowa Island to inaugurate the new season of evening meetings in this place.
From this day until the first cold nights, the island is full of laughter, singing, beer (important information below!) and games every evening.
People on Slodowa Island play mainly:
flanks (oh, you HAVE to try flanks 😉 ).
Słodowa Island is also a place where many concerts take place.
The biggest music event organized here is “Majówka” (1-3 May), during which there are the biggest stars of Polish rock. A few times there was also beaten “Guinness Guitar Record” in the number of people playing the same song on the guitar at the same time.
I can write about the island for a long time, but the most important thing is: you should see it with your own eyes and feel the atmosphere there 🙂
Let’s face it: full of people likes to drink some beer on Slodowa Island. IS THIS LEGAL? Well, for several years you can’t drink alcohol in public places in Poland. However, student self-governments negotiate with the city authorities every year that they can exclude the Malt Island from this ban. Remember: you are opening beer at your own risk! 🙂
