Did you know you can play laser tag in Wroclaw? Find more information in this post!
What is this laser thing anyway?
For those of you who have never heard about laser tag, I’ll explain it quickly. Laser tag is a game played with guns which fire infrared beams. Therefore each player must wear infrared sensitive targets (i.e. vest, headbands). Games are hosted indoors or outdoors. There are many types of matches, for instance team or solo deathmatch, capture the flag, base defense and more. Compared to paintball, laser tag is painless.
You can gather your friends (about 10-20 people) and make a reservation to have a whole arena just for yourselves. You can also go solo and join a random group of players.
How to prepare for laser game
First of all, wear comfortable clothes and take a spare t-shirt to change after playing. Drink lots of water because you’ll run, sweat and have fun. Remember to stay hydrated! In case you forget to bring your own drink, there are snack bars or vending machines in most laser tag places. Once you arrive in the arena of your choice, the staff will teach you how to use the equipment.
Laser tag in Wroclaw
This is certainly the biggest laser tag place in Wroclaw. There are two arenas suited for different number of players – Arena Combat for 18 people and Arena Hero for 10 people. Zona 71 website
Location: Fabryczna 14
Opening hours: Mo-Fri 12 am – 10 pm, Sat 9 am – 10 pm, Sun 9 am – 8 pm
Do you want to feel like the hero of an action movie? In an escape room you will experience it in one hundred and twenty percent. Here, you can treat yourself to a miniature 60-minute epinephrine with prolonged action.
What is the genesis of the escape rooms? For such a relatively recent phenomenon, it is accompanied by surprisingly hot arguments about genesis. There are those who point to TV sources – game shows such as “Fort Boyard” or “The Crystal Maze”, whose participants – a bit like fairy tales or computer game users – have to perform further tasks and solve puzzles to get the keys to the treasury. Others see the origins of escape rooms rather in computer games, which were designed on a similar basis and which have a much longer history than television programs. Still others draw attention to the similarity of escape rooms with “survival horror” films, whose protagonist also has to solve puzzles to survive. This is the case in “Resident Evil”, but above all in “Cube”, where there is another element – cooperation. Here are six people locked in a strange room, must cooperate with each other to escape life and get out.
In escape rooms you can see the need for older popculture products, which are difficult to satisfy today in everyday situations. – Our ancestors had to head well thousands of years ago to fire or get food. Those who advised, had profits – a position in the group or recognition of the opposite sex. Today we are looking for a substitute for similar challenges – hence jungle expeditions, climbing in the mountains or forest survival. Escape room is the most intimate, safe option. With the fact that – unlike in the jungle – physical strength is irrelevant here. What counts is the use of what we have in mind. In addition, escape rooms give us the possibility of group activity. With this every day in Polish conditions is poor – employers rarely offer us the opportunity to jointly solve problems, and we treat such challenges with extreme caution. We are individualists, we have little trust in others. A visit to the escape room allows you to break it. Suddenly, it turns out that we really like working together – hence the success of similar businesses.
In Wrocław, the boom for the escape room games began about five or six years ago. At the time, I had the pleasure, together with my friends, to participate in such a game in one of the first locations in the capital of Lower Silesia. at the moment the offer is rich. On the groupon.pl website you can find a lot of different escape rooms, with different available scenarios and climates.
prices are varied but for about 80 to 120 zlotys we can play with friends up to six people
Room Escape is still a fairly new type of fun during which we can learn to cooperate and, by the way, have fun. The rooms themselves are constantly evolving and changing so we can not complain about boredom and fund our intriguing experiences with our friends.
Playing board games is one of the more popular activities around the world, fortunately this culture is steadily growing in Poland for several of years now, and Wroclaw is no exception. So what to do if You are in the capital of Lower Silesia, and want to spend some time with dice, cards, and meepels? Here is a quick guide to most of the options open for people who want to play some games. Be that individually in the city, at home, or at various board game in Wroclaw meetings.
There are several options for people that want to spend their time with a board on their table, ranging from pubs and organized meetings to board game rentals if You prefer to play games in home. Note that currently many pubs in the city have a copy of Monopoly, or Scrabble. But if You, dear reader, are interested in some more complicated games I will try to give You some options on where and when to go.
HEX Board Game Café – Dubuois 33/35b
And we are starting with a pub that is focused on board games. Hex is located in a back alley, and can be a little hard to find for the first time, but it is worth the search. When You enter Your eyes are greeted with a fair amount of tables. When You make your way to the bar area You will see several shelves filled with board games.
The choice is huge, so if You don’t have Your collection with You is the ideal place to go. Drinks wise You can have Your warm drinks like coffee and tea, colder beverages like water, juice, lemonade or coke are also available. As for something with alcohol there is a good choice of craft beers in addition to normal beer and drinks. As far as snacks go You can count on peanuts, toasts, or hot dogs to name just a few. Although You can find a table walking in from the street I highly recommend reserving one, as this is a very popular place, and there are many special events organized by the owners. Also don’t forget some sort of ID because it could be needed to borrow a game at the bar.
Monday – Friday: 15:00 – 24:00
Saturday – Sunday: 12:00 – 24:00
Cybermachina – Szczytnicka 52
Located near Pasaż Grunwaldzki Cybermachina has some board games at the bar, as well as some consoles with video games on them for people to play. The gaming library is smaller than at Hex, but it has a nice climate. There are also some events organized by the pub itself, like Pub Quiz, board and video games tournaments, and so one. On Tuesdays there is a big board gaming event “Planszowe Koloseum w Cybermachinie”, where people meet to play board games in Wroclaw. The meeting is open to all, and is free of charge. You can bring Your own game, or just show up, and pick something to play from. This is a great time if You are looking for other gamers to play with. The event starts every Tuesday at around 18 o clock. As beverages go there is a good choice of beer, coffee, tea, water, coke, juices, and a whole plethora of thematically named drinks both with alcohol and without it. As with Hex, You can find a table walking in from the street but I recommend reserving one just to make sure.

There are 3 pubs for gamers in Wroclaw, that I know of. If you are a gamer and want to spend quality time in a geeky place with your friends, Wroclaw has some very interesting options for you. Whether you want to organize a big meeting or just spontaneously go to a nerdy place, these are the places you can check out:
Padbar – the first pub for gamers in Poland
Padbar was founded in 2011. In time, it branched to three other cities. You can play here on an Xbox in beat’em ups and play FIFA with your friends, try the wide range of drinks and play board games for free. There’s also a Padbar Club. For 30 zlotys you can buy a membership card and gain points. For every 5 zł that you spend you gain points, that you can exchange for free drinks. I’ts good to make a reservation ahead of time, because of the sheer popularity of this place.
Location: Kazimierza Wielkiego Street 1 in Time’s building
Cybermachina was opened in back in 2015. It’s the largest chain of pubs for geeks in Poland, it has a total of 8 locations in the country. There’s a wide variety of drinks, that reference pop culture. They have Czech and regional beer, you can also eat some snacks and toasts. There are many consoles, arcade games and board games free of charge.
Cybermachina has game tournaments, as well as regular sporting events (such as football matches on TV). Sometimes they also organize small meetings for people working in the gaming industry in Wroclaw. They are called Pog(R)adajmy and you have to check their Facebook page for more details. You have keep in mind that they close fairly early. Usually opening hours span from 2 pm to 1 am.
Hex – cafe mixed with pub for the board games enthusiasts
Hex’s origins are a cafe with board games in Cracow. Their second coffeehouse mixed with a bar was openend in Wroclaw in 2014. Since then they have presented about 400 different board games to their guests. Hex host board game competitions, they also have card games. On the occasions they organize Hearthstone tournaments – but you have to bring your own Smartphone or laptop to play. Sometimes they have special workshops for people interested in learning how to play board games. Also you can check out prototypes, that upcoming creators bring to the cafe. They even have their own game, called “Tawerna Hex”. You can also drink some niche beer and eat different meals. Why should you visit a city without even trying to live, like inhabitant, especially Wroclaw, the best European destination for 2018, according to Booking.com? Here there are some tips to live the most beautiful city of Poland – and by the term “beautiful” we mean “different”.
First things, first
Music at your headphones. Not radio, they are playing mostly mainstream English songs. TACONAFIDE and is currently the #1 in Poland right now, so, connect to YouTube and start walking to the streets and feel the vibe in your ears.
The reason how your day will begin gloriously. Go to a “Cukiernia”, a bakery. Order one, two, three, it depends how much you want – usually one is never enough. Chocolate, marmelade, toffee, rose, cheese are one of the choices. One of the finest “cukiernia’s” are situated close to Grunwaldski sq., in Skłodowskiej – Curie str. A little far from the Centre, but bus 146 and tram 10 can take you there, in Kliniki stop.
Just do not visit any of them. Feel the city. History is written and in Wikipedia. Just get lost to the streets of Wroclaw, take trams, buses, burn your shoe’s soles and wander in the city.
Go to Oder riverside, especially in summer weekends, where people are BBQing and… “riverbathing” in the calm waters of the river that gives life to this city. Take a walk in Podwale, see the hidden from the leaves of the trees sun and sit in a bench relaxing. Stare Miasto (Old Town) and the close islands are easy to walk them and the buildings, the brigdes, generally the architecture, will surprise you.
The good thing about them is that they are cheap. So obvious in the city centre’s road but the decoration is simple that it doesn’t seem like a restaurant. The “Milk Bars” have cheap traditional food that really could make you full. The bad thing is that you have to speak Polish, because are owned by old women and they have the fame of “not tourist-friendly”, but you can see the menu in the wall and use Google Translate or to learn some special words, like “Pierogi z miesem” – Dumplings with meat or “Zupa Pomidorowa” – tomato soup with pasta.
Take a tram without knowing its destination and stop somewhere that inspires you. Learn new hidden shops, wander in the Soviet block of flats and see how people living over there. You will have an clear and very widespread idea of the city, something that tourists do not acknowlegde.
From May till September, that UNESCO Heritage Building, the modernist Hala Stulecia (Centennial Hall) has behind a huge fountain, where at Saturday nights a spectacular show with colourful water and fires, under a specific theme, like “Earth and Water” or “One week with Marilyn”. Even it lasts for 10 minutes, definitely it worths visiting that.
Grab a MLE beer at “Mleczarnia” bar, in the yard of Synagogue. An calm atmosphere, under the trees, reminding a scent of an bohemian era. It will relax you.
Wander at night streets of Rynek, take one more Soplica shot and sit in a bench, watching Rynek. Your smile will be on your face and you have lived the ultimate Wroclaw experience.
When you leave Wroclaw, you will always wanna come back. Even you aren’t Polish, Wroclaw will be in your veins, because you have lived like a local here. That is the spirit of the trips. You see, you explore, you are living like a local. That is the reason of the trips.
